Carla Navarro is an American-born actress of Chilean descent based in San Diego, CA. She is a versatile actress who moves easily between drama and comedy. She’s played many roles from the romantic lead to the eerie supernatural to the ferocious feminist, showing off her dynamic range by bringing each subtle nuance of her characters to life. Her bilingual ability in both English and Spanish (with or without several regional accents) is one of her major assets. You may have seen her in Derecho (La Jolla Playhouse); El Huracán (Cygnet Theatre); Turning Off the Morning News, Drowning Girls, A Bright New Boise, (OnStage Playhouse). to name just a few. Carla’s ability to play off other actors and create chemistry has been recognized by the Craig Noel Awards and earned her an Aubrey Award for Best Ensemble in 2017 for “A Piece of My Heart.” Carla studied at Facetas Theater School in Santiago, Chile. She honed in on her writing during the pandemic with Poolhouse Project and La Jolla Playhouse. Local playwright credits: Always Moxie Theatre’s Lamoise New Works Festival (staged reading); Roustabouts Theatre Company’s Celebration of New Playwrights Always (2023) and Orange Tulips (2024) (staged readings); Riot Productions’ Cats Can’t Eat Yarn and Other Plays (production) and OnStage Playhouse’s Monumental History (production). Directing credits (staged reading): Rabbit Hole (Carlsbad Playreaders). Upcoming productions (playwright): Cats Can’t Eat Yarn in Fiel a Mi Misma - Who Am I? (Riot Productions - March 2025) and World Premiere Fragment/o/s of Air/e (OnStage Playhouse – July-August 2025.)
